About Us

Who We Are, Where We Come From, and Where We're Headed as a Church Family

Who We Are

The operating principle of this congregation has been to be a place where the Gospel is preached clearly and faithfully, and where the congregation is focused on serving our families and our community. A place where everyone had a seat at the table. and where people can get excited about what God is doing!

Where We Come From

We first met as First Presbyterian Church of Renton in 1885 founded by George Whitworth. God has been with us through a lot here at New Hope Presbyterian Church. Then in 1987 we moved from the PCUSA to the EPC (Evangelical Presbyterian Church). When we left that denomination into this new one, we had nothing except a congregation clinging to Christ and a community excited to serve God. We moved into a middle school for a few years as our building was being built, continuing to trust God’s hand in our Church’s life. Then in 1989 we moved into the first part of the Church building where we now meet. From there, God has continued to encourage and guide us as we seek his face.

Where We're Headed

Where we see the Lord Leading

Therefore after much prayer and conversation with members of our church and other leaders

of our community, we propose a Vision that includes these key components.

  • Continuing to Worship in Spirit and in Truth: As followers of Christ we will continue to be committed to worship our Lord Jesus Christ and to teach the truth of the Bible clearly and consistently.

  • Sharing the Gospel: As followers of Christ we are committed to build an invitational evangelistic culture in this church so that everyone young to old knows the Gospel to the extent that each one of us is able to share that Good News with those we love and with those we come into contact in our community.

  • Sharing our Facilities: As a body of believers who demonstrate our hospitality to other groups of Christians who are committed to reach other segments of our community with the gospel in their language and customs, we will join with them in the use of our building to better impact this community for Christ.

  • Committing to strengthen Families and single adults within our Community: As an important part of this community, all of us will participate in both relational and discipling experiences with these folks. We will emphasize a multigenerational approach to strengthen connections between those of various ages, cultures and ethnicities that are often separated.
